Juan Martin Baigorria was born in Argentina in 1977, but is living since many years in Bologna were he began occupying himself with reportage photography five years ago. Meanwhile studying computer science, important experiences developed his view on the matter: meeting Fernando Solanas, who held cinema lessons about the preparation of documentary films "from the idea to the screenplay"; the seminar with Gherardo Gossi about profession as director of photography; journeys in Chiapas, Messico (taking photographs, following the work of an NGO of international observers), in Patagonia, in Tierra del Fuego (on the Argentinian as well as on the Chilean side), in the northwest of Argentina and the province of Salta, Jujuy.
Another project, "El viaje pobre", about Southamerica is at the planning stage, based on a collaboration with Lisa Tormena and Matteo Lolletti. It is meant to be a four-months journey throughout all the Southamerican continent in order to explore today's situation and development of the indios in relation to the new Latin American socialism.
At the moment, he is working on two documentary film projects: as director of photography in "The invisible prison" by Lisa Tormena, Matteo Lolletti and Claudia Vincenzi, and as director (together with Lisa Tormena) and director of photography in "Aicha is back" (film about Moroccan women migrating back to their home country) in collaboration with Gaia Vianello and Elisa Anzolin.
